The group packs a punch and has the big band sound and features the return to the theater of vocalist Shana Tucker\, a favorite of North Carolina audiences. The Little Big Band will be performing the best hits of the classic and contemporary big band repertoire. \nTouted by JazzTimes Magazine as a jazz talent “…whose imprint and vitality has already been quite visible…” Shana’s style and sound as been described as a blend of Dianne Reeves\, Joni Mitchell\, and Tracy Chapman\, with an efficient complexity that is reminiscent of Bill Withers. She has opened for internationally-acclaimed artists including Norah Jones\, Lisa Fischer\, Sweet Honey in the Rock\, Hamiet Bluett\, Javon Jackson\, the Blind Boys of Alabama\, and Indigo Girls. \nBassist\, composer\, educator and actor John Brown is a native of Fayetteville\, North Carolina\, and currently resides in Durham\, NC. He is a graduate of the School of Music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the School of Law at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. DESCRIPTION:Our 11th Annual\, hugely popular –and very competitive- talent competition. Includes all categories of talent from singing and dancing to instrumentalist. Auditions will be held to determine who gets to showcase on our stage\, with over $1800 in cash prizes going to the top contestants. \nAUDITIONS:\n*February 15th (11am)\n*February 16th (2:30pm) \nA completed application and fee are required to audition. Using the link below\, applications can be downloaded (completed and emailed to the email address below)\, printed (dropped off in the theaters side-door mailbox or mailed to the address below)\, or you may pick up an application at the theater (4th street door) weekdays between 1-5:30 pm. \nAll applications and the non-refundable $20 registration fee (PayPal/Cash/Debit) must be submitted by 6pm Feb. 7th. DESCRIPTION:The Legacy Gospel Night featuring Vickie Winans\, Denise Tichenor and Friends\n7pm Saturday February 22 \nFollowing last season’s smashing success with audiences\, Denise Tichenor returns with her band and full singer ensemble for a night of gospel and memories. The RevNation Gospel Concert offers a full gospel concert with a “Gaither” gospel feel! This year’s gospel concert will feature a full concert set by the legendary\, international gospel artist\, Vickie Winans. She will be performing many of her hits such as\, “As Long as I’ve Got King Jesus” as well as “We Shall Behold Him” and so many more! The concert will also highlight many RevNation\, national gospel artists\, featuring many well-known gospel favorites like “Oh Happy Day” and some of their own original gospel music as well! \nWe welcome you to come and sing along with us as we present many of your gospel favorites and meet the award-winning gospel artist\, Vickie Winans! \nDenise Tichenor has been a professional singer/performer for over 30 years. During her years in the entertainment industry\, she has been a regular lead singer for the Bobby Jones Gospel Hour on BET Television Network for 17 years. She has also been featured in the Gospel Music Encyclopedia\, “Uncloudy Days” among many of the gospel greats\, such as Mahalia Jackson. She has traveled the world singing both gospel and secular in places such as Italy\, Spain and Australia. Denise also continues to sing with the legendary group\, Kurt Carr and the Kurt Carr Singers. \nDenise just recently began her “Patti LaBelle Tribute” tour in September of 2020 and is now very excited about her Motown tribute show! The Motown Special will feature many Motown hits from artists such as The Temptations\, The Four Tops\, Marvin Gaye and Tammy Terrell\, Gladys Knight\, James Brown and many more – as well as some other Old School R&B favorites during the Motown Era that you may remember and continue to enjoy! This show features a full band and singer cast. \nTickets:  Individuals $35\, Seniors (60+) and Military $32. Students $15.
