DESCRIPTION:Annual My Time to Shine Talent Competition\n7pm Saturday April 11\nThe very popular and competitive competition will feature approximately 20 contestants competing in all categories of talent\, from singing and dancing to instrumental and more. Auditions were held to determine qualifying contestants to showcase on the theater’s stage. The winner of this year’s competition will receive a $2\,000 cash prize\, with second place receiving $500 and third place $250. Additionally\, a People’s Choice Award will be chosen based on ticket sales for each contestant and donations made during purchase checkout. \nTickets for the competition are $20 general seating and can be purchased anytime on-line by visiting www.carolinaciviccenter.com.  Tickets also can be purchased in-person or with credit card or cash 1 – 5:30 pm Monday through Friday through the theater’s administrative offices\, or by calling (910) 738-4339. \n

DESCRIPTION:Summer Musical:  Hairspray\n7pm Wednesday June 10\n7pm Thursday June 11\n7pm Friday June 12\n1pm Saturday June 13    7pm Saturday June 13\n3pm Sunday June 14\nDirected by the theater’s resident artist\, Kendrix Singletary\, in the spectacular\, special way that audiences have come to expect from the artistic team at the Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater.  The 1950s are out\, and change is in the air! Hairspray\, winner of eight Tony Awards\, including Best Musical\, is a family-friendly musical\, piled bouffant-high with laughter\, romance and deliriously tuneful songs. Hairspray is a musical based on John Waters’ 1988 film about a teenager named Tracy Turnblad who dreams of dancing on a local TV Show in 1962 Baltimore. \nTickets: Individuals $30\, Seniors (60+) and Military $27. Students $15. Group discount rates of $25 each for groups of 10 or more when purchased in advance are available by contacting the box office.  Season Tickets:  Purchase tickets to all 6 events of the season at the same time through our box office to receive a 20% discount.  *The seats in the back half of the balcony may have an obstructed view.
